smallSEEDS is a welcoming space founded to offer Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, restorative Reiki healing, and joyful community connection
When we imagined what to call our space, we returned again and again to the image of a seed. A seed embodies essence, root, a starting point. A seed is small, yet it carries the power to transform soil into a garden. The name smallSEEDS, reflects our belief that growth begins in quiet places and that even the smallest act or intention can spark something remarkable. We take heart in the words of poet Dinos Christianopoulos: “what didn’t you do to bury me / but you forgot that I was a seed”
How smallSEEDS got its name
What Is Kundalini Yoga?
Called both an art and a science, Kundalini Yoga is said to build not only the body, but also the intuitive mind.
Utilizing techniques such as breath, movement, sound, and intentional rest, it strengthens the body, raises vitality, and develops inner clarity.
Kundalini Yoga is a practical way to care for your whole self as well as a means to move through life with creativity, awareness, and a deeper sense of connection.
In class, we’ll practice a range of Kundalini Yoga techniques including:
Pranayama (Breathwork)
Mantra (Intentional, Repeated Sound)
Kriya (Action or Exercise)
Mudra (Hand Position)
Dhyana (Meditation)
Savasana (Deep Yogic Rest)
Chairs and props are always available as we explore variations for every exercise. Dress comfortably—no special “yoga'“ outfit is needed.
Most people find a Kundalini Yoga class unlike any other yoga class they’ve ever experienced—however, no previous experience with any type of yoga is necessary.
We believe Kundalini Yoga can be practiced by anyone, by ANY body.
We deeply honor and acknowledge all the lineages of yoga and the many teachers throughout time who have worked to create, evolve, preserve, transform, and pass on these teachings and their knowledge. We are forever grateful these teachings have made their way across the world from their roots in the Indus Valley many millennia ago.
What Is Usui Reiki?
Usui Reiki is a Japanese healing modality that originated in the early 20th century and is currently practiced in hospitals and healing centers around the world.
The word Reiki can be broken down into two components:
“Rei” (universal wisdom or consciousness)
“Ki” (life force or vital energy)
Combined, Reiki translates as the “universal life force energy” that flows through all living things.
Rooted in the understanding that we are made of more than just our physical bodies, Reiki works to clear energetic blockages within the body’s meridian systems that can arise from stress, injury, or illness. Supporting the body’s innate ability to heal, Reiki calms and nourishes the nervous system, gently helping it return to a state of homeostasis and balance.
In a session, you’ll rest comfortably–fully clothed–while a practitioner uses light touch or hands held just above your body to guide or hold energy where it’s needed. There is nothing you need to “do” during a Reiki session. Reiki will meet you exactly where you are–physically, emotionally, and energetically.
Every Reiki session in unique. Some describe Reiki as deeply calming, others as uplifting, steadying, or clarifying.
We deeply honor and acknowledge all the lineages of Reiki and all the teachers who have shown that Unconditional Love and Universal Life Force surrounds and flows through us ALL.
